Completely procedural. It consists of a NodeTree with several base materials (ocean, forest, desert,...) and several mask materials (land-ocean,...), which all can be (relatively easily) edited.
This blender material is part of my project 'NewSkies' (http://alientrap.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5563) for the open source game Nexuiz (http://www.alientrap.org).
As part of a dual-license, I release it into the public domain, as well as under the terms of the GNU General Public License version 2 or later.
